Dynamics 365 Wave 2 2023: what’s new?

Wave 2 met nieuwe functionaliteiten in Dynamics 365 Finance en Supply Chain Management

A new wave is coming! Microsoft releases (minor) updates to Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (also known as F&O) throughout the year. In April and October there are two major updates by default, also called waves. New functionalities and improvements are introduced.

What’s new in the upcoming wave? Angelique den Boef, our Release Manager shares more information about the second release wave this year: wave 2 2023.

Version 10.0.36

The 2023 release wave 2 plans for Microsoft Dynamics 365 have been published, and the preview of version 10.0.36 (2023 Release Wave 2) is now available. From 15 September, the first version will be available for everyone to see. Before you install this release, it is important to map out the impact on your ERP system. Do you need help with this? New functionalities

The upcoming release brings a lot of updates and improvements and it goes too far to mention all of them in this blog. That’s why I’m just naming a few for both Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (F&O).  This gives you a picture of what is new and you can grab the release note for all other new functionalities. The link to this can be found later in this blog

Dynamics 365 Finance

  • Generate customer and vendor payments based on bank statements and reconciliation.
  • Automatically import (periodic) bank statements from a SharePoint folder.
  • Easily add financial tags to a sales order, packing slip and customer invoice documents.
  • Inventory and management enhancements, such as integrating inventory visibility with Dynamics 365 Commerce and providing near real-time inventory visibility.
  • Ability to post detailed vendor and customer payments but summarize amounts to the bank account.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management

  • Override prespecified transaction types through Planning Optimization. This allows you to select transaction types to be taken into account in the master plan.
  • The entire purchasing process has been improved by creating a shipping calendar that is aligned with the supplier. When automatically calculating the shipping date, this is then taken into account.
  • Archiving history tables to a Dataverse managed data lake.
  • Automate intercompany direct delivery, sales orders and purchases created as a purchase order by another legal entity.
  • Copy customer reference and requisition to the purchase order line when it is created from the sales order line.

Want to know more or need help?

As already mentioned at the beginning of this blog, I advise everyone to first map out the impact of installing this update. This can have consequences for customization or add-ons. We can help you with that. With SURA (Service Update Release Assistance) we look along with you and map out what the possible consequences of this release may be on your environment. Based on this, a plan of action can then be drawn up.
